Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has handed over the management of the Ibom Model Farm to Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural development, food security and innovation in the state.

The governor announced the development in a post shared on his official X page on Sunday, stating that while the university will oversee the day-to-day management of the facility, the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Agriculture will provide supervisory oversight to ensure the farm achieves its objectives.

According to Eno, the Ibom Model Farm is designed to serve multiple purposes beyond food production. He said the facility will promote agritourism, agricultural research, innovation and practical training, providing opportunities for students, farmers and other stakeholders to develop modern farming skills.

“The Model Farm is designed not only to boost food production but also to promote agritourism, research, innovation, and practical agricultural training for our people,” the governor stated.

Eno added that the Ibom Model Farm is the first in a series of similar facilities planned across Akwa Ibom’s three senatorial districts as part of his administration’s ARISE Agenda.

He said the initiative is aimed at strengthening food security, expanding agricultural opportunities and positioning the state as a hub for sustainable agricultural development through education, innovation and commercial farming.
