The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a 43-year-old woman and her two-year-old son from a kidnappers’ hideout in a forest in Kwara State.

The rescue operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team, in collaboration with local security support groups, following credible intelligence on the victims’ location in Bode Sadu.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the kidnappers opened fire on the operatives upon sighting them. However, the officers responded tactically, forcing the suspects to flee deeper into the forest.

The operatives subsequently searched the area and rescued the victims, identified as 43-year-old Adijat Kuburat and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat.

The police said the rescued mother and child have been taken to a medical facility for treatment and are receiving appropriate care, while efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes through sustained intelligence-led and collaborative operations.
