RIVERS POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER, RECOVER FIREARMS, LIVE AMMUNITION

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered firearms and live ammunition in a targeted intelligence-led operation as part of its ongoing campaign against violent crime.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo.

According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Austine Emenike, popularly known as “Oyibo,” from Aluu community in Rivers State, was arrested by operatives acting on credible intelligence in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju.

Items recovered from the suspect include one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns and five live cartridges.

According to the Police Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is linked to a wider criminal network, with efforts currently underway to identify and apprehend other members of the gang while uncovering the full scope of their activities.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage and commitment to duty, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to intensify intelligence-driven operations aimed at eliminating violent crime across the state.

He stated that the arrest and recovery of the weapons demonstrate the Command’s determination to deny criminal elements a haven and ensure the safety of law-abiding residents.

The Police Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities, stressing that public cooperation and credible intelligence remain vital in combating crime and improving security across Rivers State.
