Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior, has clarified his comments on the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, insisting that he never accused any senator of signature forgery.

Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his earlier remarks during an interview on AIT’s Politics Today on June 15, 2026, were misunderstood and misrepresented.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the former Edo State governor explained that at no point did he allege that senators’ signatures were forged in relation to the six-month suspension of the Kogi Central lawmaker.

He stressed that his position aligned with that of the Senate spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who had maintained that no senator reported any case of forged signatures.

According to him, the only observation he made was that a member of the committee handling the matter had claimed that attendance signatures of some senators were attached to the final report. He noted that this was different from alleging forgery.

Oshiomhole further said any interpretation suggesting he accused lawmakers of forgery was incorrect and should be disregarded.

He added that the Senate had moved past the controversy surrounding Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension, describing the matter as concluded.

Providing context to his interview, he said his comments were in response to a question referencing remarks attributed to the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who reportedly described the issue as one of the low points of the current Senate.

Oshiomhole said he only responded that if such a statement was indeed made by the Senate Leader, it should be taken seriously given his standing in the chamber.

Reiterating his position, he maintained that no senator had informed him of any forged signature and expressed regret if his comments were misunderstood or caused discomfort within the Senate or among colleagues.
