The Zamfara State Government has suspended the Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, Dr Sirajo Shinkafi, over allegations of misconduct and insubordination.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abubakar Nakwada.
According to the statement, the decision was taken to ensure the smooth operation of academic and administrative activities within the institution while relevant issues are addressed.
The government assured students, staff, and other stakeholders that measures have been put in place to guarantee uninterrupted administration and continued academic activities at the polytechnic.
“The Government assures the Polytechnic community and the general public that measures have been put in place to ensure the uninterrupted administration of the institution,” the statement said.
Authorities did not provide further details regarding the specific allegations against the suspended rector.
Efforts to obtain Dr Shinkafi’s reaction were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone line could not be completed at the time of filing the report.
