The President of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has criticised Nigeria’s political leaders over what he described as worsening economic hardship and insecurity across the country, accusing them of failing to fulfil campaign promises made to citizens.

Oladele made the remarks on Saturday during a send-off ceremony held in honour of the immediate past Financial Director of the church, Pastor Johnson Omitinde, at the CAC All Saints’ Chapel in Ibadan.

The cleric said many political office holders had not delivered on key promises such as improved living standards, stable electricity supply, security, and quality healthcare, which he noted were central to the mandates they used to win elections.

He expressed concern over the rising cost of living, citing the steep increase in fuel prices, which he said has placed additional financial strain on ordinary Nigerians.

Oladele, who was represented at the event by the CAC Secretary General, Pastor Emmanuel Mapur, said the situation in the country had become unbearable for many citizens, stressing that urgent intervention was needed to address the challenges.

He called on national leaders, including the President, to take decisive steps to tackle insecurity and economic difficulties, suggesting the declaration of a state of emergency on security-related issues.

According to him, Nigerians are currently facing severe hardship marked by rising cases of kidnapping, violence, and economic pressure, conditions he said demand immediate government attention.

The CAC leader also noted that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had called for a period of fasting and prayer in response to the growing insecurity and social distress in the country.

He announced that the church would observe three days of fasting and mourning from June 12 to June 14, during which members would pray for peace and healing in the nation.

Oladele further appealed to government authorities to ensure the safe release of abducted pupils and teachers in affected communities, urging swift action to protect vulnerable citizens.

Beyond his criticism of national issues, Oladele also paid tribute to the retiring Financial Director, describing Pastor Johnson Omitinde as a disciplined, principled, and dedicated church administrator whose service spanned over three decades.

He praised Omitinde’s professionalism, integrity, and contributions to the financial management of the church, noting that his tenure was marked by stability and diligence.

In his response, Omitinde expressed gratitude to God for a successful career in church administration, attributing his achievements to discipline, honesty, and commitment to service.

He encouraged younger generations to uphold values such as hard work, integrity, and contentment, warning against the pursuit of quick wealth.

The event was attended by church members and dignitaries from various sectors, marking both a moment of reflection on national issues and celebration of dedicated service within the church community.
