Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has praised the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for what he described as decisive and proactive measures to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture, particularly the approval for the immediate recruitment of 1,000 forest guards.
Murray-Bruce, who made his position known in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, said the initiative represents a practical step toward addressing insecurity by denying criminal groups access to forests and remote communities used as hideouts.

He noted that the deployment of forest guards, alongside increased military presence in vulnerable and hard-to-reach areas, reflects a clear commitment by security authorities to tackle insecurity from its roots.
“I am encouraged by the decisive steps being taken by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to strengthen security across Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, securing forest regions is essential to disrupting the operational bases of criminal networks and restoring public confidence in affected communities.
“Securing our forests is critical to denying criminal elements safe havens and restoring confidence among citizens,” he added.
The former lawmaker stressed that Nigeria’s security challenges require bold and practical solutions rather than rhetoric, describing the forest guards initiative as a welcome development.
Murray-Bruce further commended security agencies for their continued efforts in addressing insecurity across the country, noting that sustained coordination is necessary to achieve lasting results.
“Nigeria needs bold actions, not mere rhetoric. This initiative is a welcome development, and I commend the NSA and all security agencies working tirelessly to keep our country safe,” he said.

He added that a safer Nigeria remains achievable through sustained collaboration and effective implementation of security strategies.
“Together, we can build a more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” he stated.
