The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately open all completed sections of the highway to ease movement during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

The minister said the directive was aimed at ensuring safer and smoother travel for commuters returning home or travelling for the festive period.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Francis Nwaze, in Abuja, Umahi explained that an earlier accident on the road had been cleared, noting that security agencies had been deployed to strategic points along the route to maintain law and order.

He assured road users that adequate safety measures had been put in place to ensure hitch-free movement throughout the Sallah holidays.

The Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway had previously been partially closed to traffic to allow contractors to continue reconstruction works on the project.
