Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has described his emergence as the sole governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election as an unprecedented vote of confidence and a call to greater service.

Governor Eno stated this during a special Thanksgiving service in Uyo held to celebrate the promotion of his son-in-law, Edidiog Ufot, to the rank of Flight Captain.

Reacting to the endorsement by APC members, the governor said the development goes beyond politics and reflects growing public trust in his administration.

He pledged to remain committed to the development of Akwa Ibom State and assured residents that his administration would continue to review and strengthen its ARISE Agenda to address infrastructure gaps and improve service delivery.

“Several communities still require critical infrastructure and interventions, and we are committed to strengthening our development blueprint to meet those needs,” Eno said.

The governor also commended APC members for their support for President Bola Tinubu during the party primaries, noting that the President was fulfilling commitments made to the state, including prioritising the Ibom Deep Seaport project.

According to him, the renewed federal attention on the seaport has revived investor confidence, with some investors already indicating fresh interest in the project.

Eno urged Akwa Ibom residents to continue supporting President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda to enable the state to benefit more from federal government initiatives.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the governor called on political parties and candidates to avoid personal attacks and focus on issue-based campaigns.

He urged politicians to maintain decorum and concentrate on practical solutions to developmental challenges rather than engaging in campaigns of calumny.

The governor also congratulated Flight Captain Edidiog Ufot on his promotion, describing him as “not only a son-in-law but a son,” and prayed for greater success in his aviation career.
