The Headquarters, Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has dismissed claims circulating in a viral social media video alleging non-payment of allowances to troops and victimisation of a soldier in the North-East theatre of operations.
In a statement issued on Friday, the military described the allegations as false, misleading, and aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces and military command structure.

According to the Theatre Command, all legitimate allowances due to troops under Operation Hadin Kai have been fully paid up to May 2026 without any outstanding arrears.
The Command clarified that the money referenced in the viral video was not operational allowance but an additional incentive paid to troops deployed to secure a critical national asset in Tuba, Borno State.
It explained that the special allowance was initially funded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) during exploration activities in the area, while the Borno State Government maintained a separate payment structure for police and volunteer forces.
The military said the payments to troops stopped after the NNPC suspended exploration activities, adding that the Borno State Government had since stepped in to assume responsibility for the allowance, with efforts ongoing to integrate troops into the existing payment arrangement.
The statement further disclosed that the issue had earlier been raised with the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Solomon Diwa, during an operational visit, and assurances were given that the matter would be resolved once funds were released.
Operation Hadin Kai also denied allegations that the soldier involved was intimidated or punished for speaking out.
The Command stated that preliminary findings indicated that the video was produced by a “mischievous content creator” known for publishing inflammatory materials based on information from disgruntled individuals.
It described the action as unpatriotic and accused those behind the video of attempting to tarnish the image of the Armed Forces.

The military warned that the dissemination of such content violates the Nigerian Armed Forces’ social media policy and noted that disciplinary measures exist for personnel who breach operational communication guidelines.
The Command urged the public and media organisations to avoid spreading unverified information capable of undermining troop morale and national security operations.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North-East while prioritising the welfare and professionalism of troops engaged in counter-insurgency operations.
