Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu scored twice, including a decisive late penalty, as Trabzonspor defeated Konyaspor 2-1 on Friday night to win the 2026 Turkish Cup at the Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadium.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a calm finish to give Trabzonspor an early advantage. However, Congolese forward Jackson Muleka restored parity for Konyaspor four minutes into the second half.
Konyaspor missed a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 58th minute when Enis Bardhi failed to convert from the penalty spot.

With the game seemingly heading for extra time, Onuachu stepped up in the 78th minute to convert a penalty and seal victory for Trabzonspor, securing the club’s 10th Turkish Cup title.
The triumph served as redemption for Trabzonspor, who lost 3-0 to Galatasaray in the previous season’s final. It also marked head coach Fatih Tekke’s first trophy with the club in his second Turkish Cup final appearance.
Onuachu capped off an outstanding individual campaign after joining Trabzonspor permanently in June 2025. The Super Eagles forward finished as the Süper Lig Golden Boot winner with 22 league goals and added four more in the cup competition.
Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu also celebrated the success with Trabzonspor. The defender, who joined from Wolfsberger in January, made 20 appearances during the season and earned his first major trophy with the club.

The final also marked the end of an era for veteran Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme, who made his final appearance for Trabzonspor ahead of the expiration of his contract next month.
Nwakaeme enjoyed two successful spells with the Turkish side, making 193 appearances, scoring 50 goals and providing 48 assists. He played a major role in Trabzonspor’s 2021/22 Süper Lig title-winning season and previously helped the club win the Turkish Cup in 2019/20 and the Turkish Super Cup in 2020/21.
Trabzonspor, who finished third in the Turkish Süper Lig this season, will now head into next season’s European competitions with renewed confidence following their cup success.
