A crisis has engulfed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State following violent incidents, protests, and allegations of irregularities surrounding the party’s primary election process.
Tension reportedly escalated in parts of Benue South after aggrieved youths stormed the office of Samson Okwu, accusing him of collaborating with Tiv political interests to deny the Idoma bloc the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
The protesters, who carried placards and sang solidarity songs, insisted that the Idoma people deserve a fair chance to produce the party’s governorship candidate, warning against any attempt to marginalise the region within the party’s arrangement.

Amid the unrest, the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, has remained silent on the situation, a development that has further heightened tension and suspicion among party members in the state.
The crisis took a more serious turn in Okpokwu Local Government Area, where reports emerged that the local chairman of the ADC was allegedly abducted by unknown persons.
Following the incident, security was heightened as heavily armed police officers reportedly took over the party secretariat in Okpoga to prevent further escalation and maintain order.

In a related development, Ejembi Adaje called for the outright cancellation of the party’s primary election in Enone, alleging widespread irregularities and insisting that the process did not reflect the genuine will of party members.
