The Federal Road Safety Corps has intensified its nationwide enforcement operation against the illegal use of fake diplomatic number plates, warning that offenders will face prosecution.
The Corps said the operation is aimed at identifying, impounding, and prosecuting individuals unlawfully using unauthorised diplomatic plates across the country.
As part of the ongoing clampdown, operatives of the FRSC Rivers State Sector Command arrested several motorists found using different unauthorised number plates.

The Command also confirmed the arrest of a motorist allegedly using a fake diplomatic number plate.
According to preliminary investigations, the diplomatic plate was neither officially issued nor authorised by the relevant authorities, while the suspect was found not to be a diplomat or an attaché attached to any foreign embassy or high commission in Nigeria.
The suspect has since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Speaking on the operation, the Sector Commander, Francis Ajatta, warned members of the public against the illegal procurement and use of diplomatic plates or any unauthorised substitutes for official vehicle registration materials.
He described the act as a serious security violation capable of undermining public trust and national security.

Ajatta also urged Nigerians to report suspicious vehicles bearing questionable diplomatic or unauthorised number plates to the nearest FRSC office or relevant security agencies.
The Corps reiterated that diplomatic number plates are strictly reserved for accredited diplomats and officially recognised foreign missions, in line with international protocols and Nigerian laws regulating their use.
