A shawarma vendor identified simply as Andy has been shot dead in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State following an attack by armed men believed to be suspected cultists.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening while the victim was attending to customers at his business location.
Witnesses and local sources said the attackers allegedly approached the shawarma stand disguised as customers before suddenly opening fire at close range.

The assailants were reported to have fled the scene immediately after the attack, leaving the victim severely injured.
Security personnel later arrived at the location and recovered the victim’s body.
A source familiar with the incident stated that initial information indicated the attackers pretended to be customers before carrying out the shooting.
According to the source, officers who responded to the incident found the victim lying in a pool of blood before the body was evacuated from the area.
While reports on social media and anti-cultism groups have linked the killing to cult-related violence, security authorities have yet to officially confirm the motive behind the attack.
An anti-cultism platform alleged that the victim was known within the community as a peaceful and hardworking businessman and claimed that rival groups later took responsibility for the incident.
Video clips circulating online reportedly showed residents gathering around the scene as family members and sympathisers reacted emotionally to the development.

Attempts to obtain an official statement from the Lagos State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over recurring violent attacks and suspected cult-related activities reported in parts of Lagos State, particularly within areas around the Lekki-Ajah corridor and other communities that have witnessed similar clashes in recent years.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
