Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, has advised aspirants dissatisfied with the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections to carefully assess the process before seeking legal redress.

Amadi stated that aggrieved aspirants should first determine whether the conduct of the primaries involved violations of electoral laws, party constitutions or internal regulations before approaching the courts.

Speaking during an appearance on a television programme, he explained that legal action should be based on substantial procedural irregularities rather than dissatisfaction with election outcomes alone.

According to him, the Supreme Court’s position on internal party matters does not necessarily prevent aggrieved individuals from challenging serious breaches arising during party primaries.

He noted that where significant violations of laws or established guidelines are identified, affected aspirants could have legitimate grounds to seek judicial intervention.

Amadi stressed that while internal party affairs are generally treated with caution by the courts, complaints involving serious procedural lapses or legal violations could still be considered.

The former NERC chairman also clarified his own political position amid reports linking him with potential elective ambitions.

He dismissed suggestions that he was contesting for any office in the current political cycle, explaining that campaign posters bearing his name were initiated by support groups and not by his campaign team.

Amadi stated that he had declined calls to contest for a Senate position at this stage, adding that his focus remains on a future governorship ambition in Imo State, which operates an off-season electoral calendar.

He reiterated that he has no active participation in the present election cycle and emphasised that his political plans would be pursued at a later stage.
