President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on politicians across the country to embrace development-driven politics capable of strengthening grassroots development and promoting national unity.
Senator Akpabio made the call on Friday during a condolence visit to the family of the late Mr Raphael Effiong Nana at Ukpap/Ikot Akpan Odung Itak in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The Senate President said political leaders should focus on the growth and development of their communities rather than engage in divisive politics based on ethnicity and sectional interests.
He also reaffirmed the support of the people of Akwa Ibom State for President Bola Tinubu, stating that the President has continued to ensure equitable distribution of national resources across the country.
According to Akpabio, development-oriented leadership remains key to sustaining peace, unity and progress in Nigeria.

The Senate President described the late Raphael Nana as a devoted family man who raised his children in the fear of God and left behind a worthy legacy.
He further commended one of his aides, DSP Israel Sunday Eshiet, and members of the bereaved family for the care and support they gave to the deceased during his lifetime.
Senator Akpabio prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Raphael Nana and comfort for the family.
Responding on behalf of the family, DSP Israel Sunday Eshiet, alongside the chief mourner, Mr Udeme Raphael, and another family member, Dr Akaninyene Abam, thanked the Senate President for identifying with them during their moment of grief.
They noted that the presence of Senator Akpabio at the burial ceremony brought honour and encouragement to the family.

The family also pledged continued support for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
