The Nigeria Police Force has paraded eight police officers in Rivers State over their alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion and other criminal activities, with more than N9.5 million recovered from the suspects.
Three of the officers are Inspectors attached to Zone 16 Police Headquarters in Yenagoa, while the remaining five are attached to the Operations Department of the Rivers State Police Command.

The suspects were paraded at the Rivers State Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Flaccid, who disclosed that investigations commenced following a complaint filed on February 3 by one Festus Saturday.
According to Flaccid, the complainant alleged that he and his cousin were intercepted along the Igbo-Etche Road axis of Port Harcourt by armed officers posing as operatives conducting stop-and-search duties.
He explained that the victims were subsequently abducted and taken to an undisclosed location where they were allegedly forced to transfer N4.5 million and 1,742 US dollars to the suspects.
The police spokesman further revealed that investigations uncovered evidence suggesting that the group allegedly carried out similar operations in different parts of Rivers State between September 2025 and January 2026.
Flaccid stressed that the actions of the officers do not reflect the values and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest three additional suspects currently at large.

He assured that all those connected to the alleged crimes would be brought to justice.
