Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged political stakeholders across party lines to embrace peace and conduct themselves responsibly as preparations intensify for the 2027 party primaries and general elections.
The governor appealed on Monday at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, while addressing journalists shortly after returning from his screening for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries.
Governor Eno emphasised that the unity and stability of Akwa Ibom must take precedence over political ambitions, warning against actions capable of creating tension or division within the state.

He maintained that political competition should not be allowed to threaten the existing peace being enjoyed in the state, stressing that development can only flourish in a peaceful environment.
The governor called on party members, supporters and aspirants to approach the primaries with tolerance, mutual respect and a spirit of sportsmanship, regardless of political differences.
According to him, leaders and followers alike must be willing to make the necessary sacrifices to preserve harmony and strengthen the bonds of unity among the people.
Governor Eno further reminded politicians that electoral contests are temporary, while the collective responsibility of building and protecting the state remains permanent.

He reiterated his commitment to sustaining peace and inclusive governance in Akwa Ibom, urging all political actors to work together in the interest of the state’s continued growth and stability.
