U.S. President Donald Trump has said the United States military would need only “two weeks” to strike every designated target in Iran, as tensions surrounding the long-running confrontation with Iran continue to draw global attention.

In his remarks from an interview aired on Sunday and recorded last week, Trump asserted that Iran was already “militarily defeated,” while suggesting that ongoing operations had reached about 70 per cent completion of intended targets.

He added that any remaining actions would be “final touches,” without providing operational details.

Trump also broadened his criticism to NATO, describing the alliance as a “paper tiger” and accusing some U.S. allies of failing to provide meaningful support in the regional campaign dynamics he referenced.

The comments come as diplomatic exchanges continue over proposals aimed at de-escalating the conflict that escalated after strikes involving the United States and Israel earlier this year.

Iranian officials are reportedly reviewing the latest U.S.-backed proposal as international actors push for containment of wider regional instability.
