The Rivers State Police Command has announced a strengthened security partnership with sister agencies, including the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in a coordinated effort to enhance public safety and combat crime.
The initiative follows a high-level strategic meeting convened by the Commissioner of Police, Olugenga Adewole Adepoju, alongside service commanders, marking what officials describe as a significant step toward improved inter-agency collaboration.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the agencies have agreed on a unified operational framework aimed at preventing criminal activities such as cultism and kidnapping persistent security challenges in the state.
Central to the agreement is the immediate deployment of joint patrol teams across key locations in Rivers State. Authorities say the patrols will combine intelligence-sharing, manpower, and logistics to create a more visible and effective security presence.
“The collaboration reflects our collective resolve to maintain law and order and ensure a safe environment for residents and investors,” Adepoju said.
The Command emphasised that the operations will be conducted with strict adherence to human rights standards. Officers participating in the joint exercises have been directed to maintain professionalism and avoid any form of harassment or misconduct toward civilians.
Security officials reiterated that the initiative is designed as a long-term strategy rather than a temporary intervention, to sustainsupport supporting economic activities in the state.
Residents have also been urged to cooperate with security personnel and remain vigilant, as authorities stress that public participation remains critical to the success of the operation.
