The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede, has stated that the Commission not only investigates and prosecutes financial crimes but also recognises and commends Nigerians who uphold integrity and transparency.

Olukoyede made this known on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Abuja while speaking at the Business Grant Award Ceremony organised by the Jerry Eze Foundation.

He revealed that the Commission once conducted a six-month investigation into the Founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, over allegations of money laundering, but found no evidence linking him to any financial crime. According to him, the outcome underscores the EFCC’s commitment to fairness and objectivity.

“I want to let Nigerians know that EFCC is not just about investigating and prosecuting fraudsters; it is also about appreciating and commending those who are not involved in economic and financial crimes,” Olukoyede said.

The EFCC boss also used the occasion to caution religious leaders against engaging in corrupt practices, emphasising that integrity must remain a core value across all faiths.

Speaking on the empowerment initiative by the Jerry Eze Foundation, which provided $3,000 grants to 240 small-scale business owners, Olukoyede described the gesture as impactful and a strong contribution to nation-building. He encouraged Nigerians to emulate such acts by investing in the growth and well-being of others.

He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the release of N100 billion from the EFCC Recovery Account to support the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation.

Olukoyede also disclosed that the Commission is working towards establishing a Cybercrime Research Centre aimed at equipping Nigerian youths with valuable information technology skills and channelling their talents into productive and lawful ventures.
