The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a serving corps member, Abdulsamad Jamiu, who was killed during a military operation in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the Scheme’s management, Jamiu, identified by service number NS/25A/2904, reportedly lost his life in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026, in the vicinity of his residence at Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei, within the Federal Capital Territory.

Until his death, the late corps member was serving at Government Junior Secondary School, Bakin Ado, in Nasarawa State, where he was actively contributing to national development under the NYSC programme.
The management described the incident as deeply distressing, noting that it is engaging relevant security agencies to determine the full circumstances surrounding the operation that led to Jamiu’s death.
“The Scheme notes this incident with profound concern and sorrow,” the statement read, adding that efforts are ongoing to ensure clarity and accountability.
Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of corps members nationwide, the NYSC said it would continue to strengthen collaboration with security and intelligence agencies to enhance safety and reduce risks across the country.

The organisation also extended its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
