Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has described the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election as a critical test of strength for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sani, who serves as the National Chairman of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Campaign Council, remarked on Sunday evening upon his arrival at the Ado-Ekiti Airport, ahead of Monday’s official flag-off of the APC campaign for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

A total of 13 political parties are participating in the June 20 governorship election.

According to the Kaduna governor, the outcome of the poll will reflect the popularity and acceptance of the ruling party under President Bola Tinubu.

“The outcome of the Ekiti State governorship election will reflect the strength and acceptability of the ruling party’s leadership under President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

Sani expressed confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s chances, citing his performance in office as a key factor that has endeared him to the people.

“My dear brother, Governor Oyebanji, has done extremely well. I’m here to support what he has done, and I have no doubt that the Ekiti people have seen his achievements,” he said.

He highlighted progress in education, infrastructure, and youth socio-economic empowerment, adding that continuity in leadership was vital for sustained development.

“This election is just a formality,” Sani added, expressing optimism about the governor’s re-election.

The Kaduna governor was received at the airport by a state government delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Mrs Monisade Afuye. He was later accompanied to the Government House by Governor Oyebanji, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and members of the Ekiti State Caucus of the National Assembly.
