Manchester City staged a late comeback to defeat Southampton FC 2–1 and secure a place in the FA Cup final for a record fourth consecutive season.
The semi-final clash at Wembley looked set for a major upset when Southampton took a shock lead in the 79th minute through a stunning long-range effort from Finn Azaz.
The Championship side, who had impressed throughout their cup run, were on the brink of a famous victory.
However, City responded swiftly. Belgian winger Jérémy Doku drew the defending champions level just four minutes later, his effort taking a deflection on its way into the net to restore parity.
With momentum firmly on their side, Pep Guardiola’s men completed the turnaround in the 87th minute when midfielder Nico González unleashed a powerful strike from distance to seal the victory.
The dramatic win keeps City’s hopes of domestic silverware alive this season, having already claimed the League Cup and remaining in contention for the Premier League title.
Despite the defeat, Southampton earned plaudits for their spirited performance, pushing the Premier League giants to the brink and showcasing resilience against a heavily rotated City side.
City will now face either Chelsea or Leeds United in the final at Wembley, as they aim to extend their dominance in domestic cup competitions.
