Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to capacity building and improved officer welfare, following the conclusion of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron Commanders’ Training Programme in Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State.
The IGP made this known on Wednesday while attending the closing ceremony of the training at the PMF Training College, describing the programme as a critical step toward strengthening leadership capacity and operational effectiveness within the Force.
During his visit, Disu inspected key training facilities, including the simulation ground and shooting range, where he also participated in tactical exercises. He emphasised the importance of continuous, scenario-based training in addressing modern security challenges.
Addressing cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy currently undergoing training at the college, the IGP urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their training. He stressed that resilience, professionalism, and respect for human rights must remain central to policing, noting that the quality of training would shape their conduct in the field.
Commending the Squadron Commanders for completing the intensive programme, Disu charged them to apply the knowledge gained to enhance leadership, operational discipline, and tactical efficiency in their respective units.
He further underscored the strategic role of the Police Mobile Force as a vital tactical arm of the Nigeria Police, calling for sustained discipline, responsiveness, and professionalism.
Reiterating his administration’s focus on officer welfare, the IGP assured that efforts would continue to improve working conditions and adequately equip police formations to effectively tackle evolving security threats across the country.
