Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, has expressed profound appreciation to Vice President Kashim Shettima and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for immortalising his late father, Brigadier General Abba Kyari, through the naming of a newly constructed banquet hall in Kaduna.
The 1,300-capacity edifice, known as the Brigadier General Abba Kyari Banquet Hall, was officially commissioned by Vice President Shettima at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

The facility, built by the Kaduna State Government, is designed to serve as a venue for high-level engagements, including diplomatic meetings, international conferences, and major state functions.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sani said the decision to name the hall after the late military administrator was in recognition of his enduring legacy.
He described Brig. Gen. Kyari is a symbol of “discipline, humility, and steady service,” adding that honouring past leaders is essential to preserving the state’s history and inspiring future generations.
Responding on behalf of the family, Minister Kyari described the gesture as deeply meaningful, noting that it reflects the lasting impact of his father’s contributions to national development. He highlighted Brig. Gen. Kyari’s role in infrastructural growth during his time in office.
Brigadier General Abba Kyari served as the first military governor of the former North-Central State following its creation in 1967, leaving behind a legacy widely regarded as foundational in the region’s administrative and infrastructural evolution.

According to him, the commissioning of the banquet hall marks another milestone in Kaduna State’s efforts to expand its public infrastructure while celebrating notable figures in its history.
