POLICE ARREST SUSPECT OVER FATAL ACCIDENT INVOLVING ABSU STUDENT IN ABIA

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to a tragic road accident that resulted in the death of Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, a 200-level student of Abia State University.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu, gained widespread attention after a disturbing video of the victim’s lifeless body at the scene circulated online.

Speaking on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, explained that the accident involved a head-on collision between two motorcycles. The impact threw their passengers onto the road, creating a chaotic and dangerous situation.

She further disclosed that the victim was subsequently run over by an oncoming truck, leading to her death.

“The command is aware of the unfortunate incident that took place at the Water Board area of Uturu on April 19, 2026. Two motorcycles collided head-on, throwing passengers onto the road. Sadly, Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle was run over by a moving Mack truck,” Chinaka stated.

According to the police spokesperson, officers from the Motor Traffic Department promptly arrived at the scene, while those injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are currently receiving treatment and responding positively.

Chinaka added that the deceased was confirmed dead by a medical doctor, after which her remains were released to her family. She also noted that all vehicles involved in the accident the two motorcycles and the truck have been recovered and are now in police custody.

The police confirmed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend two other individuals believed to be involved.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are still underway.
