The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, on Saturday joined family, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate his Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Idio, on the occasion of his marriage to former beauty queen, Emmanuella Ulaetor.

The colourful ceremony, held in Bigtown, Mkpanak in Ibeno Local Government Area, drew a large gathering of dignitaries and community members, reflecting both the prominence of the couple and the significance of the occasion.

Speaker Otong, accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Margaret Otong, who also serves as President of the Legislators’ Wives Association, congratulated the newlyweds and offered prayers for a successful and enduring marriage.

He advised the couple to make faith and mutual respect the foundation of their union.

“Marriage is a sacred institution that thrives on understanding, patience, and above all, the fear of God,” the Speaker said, urging the couple to remain committed to one another through all seasons of life.

The event was marked by vibrant cultural displays, music, and expressions of goodwill from attendees, including members of the political class, particularly lawmakers from the 8th Assembly, as well as serving and former local government chairmen.

Religious leaders, representatives of professional bodies, and a wide network of friends and associates were also present to witness the union.

The marriage of Idio and Ulaetor has been widely celebrated as a union not only of two individuals but of families and communities, underscoring the enduring value of marriage within Akwa Ibom and Nigerian society.
