The Rivers State Police Command has announced the deployment of personnel and operational resources across the state to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga A. Adepoju, ordered the strategic positioning of officers at all approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, alongside the deployment of intelligence and operational assets to safeguard candidates, examination officials, and stakeholders.
The move, according to the Command, aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is aimed at providing a safe, secure, and conducive environment throughout the examination period.
Police authorities stated that all deployed personnel have been instructed to maintain the highest standards of professionalism while remaining firm in enforcing order.
Officers are also expected to take decisive action against examination malpractice, disorderly conduct, or any attempts to compromise the integrity of the exercise.
In addition to personnel deployment, the Command has intensified patrols, strengthened intelligence gathering, introduced traffic control measures around examination centres and adjoining routes to ensure free movement and prevent potential security threats.
The Commissioner of Police called on candidates, parents, and the general public to cooperate fully with security operatives and adhere strictly to examination guidelines.
He warned that individuals or groups found engaging in activities capable of undermining the examination process would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across Rivers State and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through its designated emergency lines.
The 2026 UTME, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, continues nationwide with heightened security measures in place.
