The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has assured candidates, parents, and the general public of adequate security arrangements for the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placide, the police dismissed as unfounded recent rumours alleging insecurity at some examination centres in a North Central state.

The NPF stated that while it does not act on rumours, it has taken the concerns seriously and implemented proactive measures to safeguard candidates and ensure a hitch-free examination process nationwide.

According to the statement, additional security personnel have been deployed to examination centres across the country, both overtly and covertly, to prevent any disruption. The measures include routine patrols, perimeter surveillance, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations.

The police also disclosed that it is working in collaboration with other security agencies to monitor and address potential threats, warning that any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examinations would be swiftly apprehended and prosecuted.

“The Nigeria Police Force reassures candidates, parents, and the general public that every measure has been taken to guarantee a safe and conducive environment for the examinations,” the statement said.

Candidates were advised to arrive early at their designated centres, comply with examination guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activity to security personnel on ground. The public was also urged to disregard unverified information circulating on social media and rely only on official updates from JAMB and security agencies.

The NPF reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and public confidence in national activities, while appreciating the cooperation of citizens and relevant stakeholders toward a smooth and secure examination process.
