The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has been honoured as Matron of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria National Women Fellowship (LCNWF).
The honour was announced on Sunday during the 2026 National Women’s Fellowship Rally held at the Luther Cathedral and National Headquarters of the church in Obot Idim, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

Lady Obareki, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Inibehe Silas, was formally decorated with the fellowship’s Matron uniform by the National Chairperson, Deaconess Eno Akpan. The recognition, according to the church, was in acknowledgement of her impactful service to God, dedication to human development, and contributions to community advancement across Akwa Ibom State.
Delivering a sermon themed “God Has Given Us a Living Hope,” drawn from 1 Peter 1:3–9, the National President of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Rev. Christian Ekong, urged Christians—particularly women—to remain steadfast in faith despite life’s challenges. He noted that faith in Christ remains a catalyst for change, even amid prevailing socio-economic and security concerns in parts of the country.
In her remarks, Lady Obareki expressed appreciation for the honour and commended the women fellowship for promoting values of faith, virtue, and excellence among its members. She also acknowledged their continued support for the Office of the First Lady.
She further called on the women to pray for Governor Umo Eno and members of the State Executive Council for the successful implementation of the ARISE Agenda, as well as for sustained peace in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.

The rally, themed “Christ for You! A Catalyst for Change, TOUCH HIM,” brought together women from the 14 dioceses of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria for fellowship, prayers, and faith-building activities.
