Members of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ikot Ntuen Oku Major Center, Uyo, were filled with excitement as Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Aniekan Bassey, donated ₦1 million to support the church’s empowerment programme.

The contribution was announced during the church’s 2026 G-1 Thanksgiving and Praise Rendezvous, where the senator attended as Special Guest of Honour. He was represented at the event by the International Coordinator of the Uyo Is Ripe Movement, Elder Ndanti Ekuh.

Addressing the congregation, the senator commended the church leadership for initiating a programme aimed at improving the welfare of its members and strengthening their capacity to overcome economic challenges.

According to him, the initiative demonstrates that the church is not only committed to nurturing the spiritual growth of its members but is also concerned about their physical well-being and economic stability. He added that such efforts complement his own commitment to empowerment and human capacity development across the Uyo Senatorial District.

Senator Bassey described the gathering as uplifting and reminded Christians of the importance of continually giving praise to God, particularly during the period when believers worldwide reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He also urged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith and to pray for leaders at both the state and national levels. The lawmaker reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Uyo Senatorial District, stating that the initiatives and legislative efforts he has pursued over the past three years are beginning to yield positive results.

He assured constituents that they would continue to benefit from the dividends of his representation in the Senate.

The event also featured a choir competition involving several church assemblies within the state capital. The Apostolic Church Choir from Four Towns Assembly emerged as the overall winner, taking home the grand prize of ₦500,000.
