The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the full activation of comprehensive security measures across the state to prevent and combat all forms of violent crimes.
The directive comes under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, in line with the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police.
A statement issued on Tuesday by DSP Timfon John, the State Police Public Relations Officer, says the Command has intensified intelligence-led policing, enhanced patrols, and strategically deployed personnel across all Local Government Areas.
High-risk areas, including farmlands, forests, waterways, and major access routes, are now under continuous day and night surveillance.
Special operations, including stop-and-search duties at critical points, have been implemented to intercept criminal activities, while tactical units have been repositioned to ensure rapid response to emergencies.
Collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has been strengthened to ensure coordinated operations and effective intelligence sharing across the state.
The Command is also intensifying community engagement and sensitization campaigns, urging residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with security agencies.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, and youth groups are called upon to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information.
