The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a young man on Abakaliki Street in Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt, on Easter Sunday, linking the incident to an intra-cult clash.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident while responding to inquiries from reporters.
“Yes, I can confirm the incident. It is linked to an intra-cult clash between members of a particular cult group in Diobu,” CSP Iringe-Koko said.

She added that the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a manhunt for those responsible for the killing.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed a manhunt for the perpetrators with a view to bringing them to justice. Security has been reinforced in the area as investigation continues,” she stated.
Investigations revealed that the killing may have resulted from a clash between suspected members of the Doggies and White Eagle houses of the Deybam cult group over territorial control in the area.

Another source familiar with the incident said the confrontation escalated on Easter Sunday, allegedly triggered by a dispute involving a young woman between two men belonging to the rival houses. The identity of the deceased has yet to be officially confirmed.
