Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a resident of Ifo Local Government Area, Oluwadamilare Ewedemi, over allegations of prolonged sexual abuse of his 21-year-old daughter.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld, accused her father of subjecting her to abuse since 2019, which reportedly resulted in multiple pregnancies that were allegedly terminated.
Confirming the development on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the case was reported at the Ifo Police Division on March 26, 2026.
According to him, the victim lost her mother at infancy and was initially placed in a motherless home in Ikeja, Lagos, before being taken to Ijebu Ode in 2019 under the guise of guardianship, where the alleged abuse began.
Babaseyi disclosed that the victim later escaped from her father’s residence on February 1, 2026, due to persistent harassment and sought refuge in a church in the Pakoto area before reporting the matter to the police.

“Operatives of the Ifo Division acted swiftly on the report and successfully arrested the suspect. He is currently in custody, while preliminary investigations are ongoing,” he said.
The police added that the case has been transferred to the Gender Desk for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.

The command assured the public of its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, ensuring justice is served.
