President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for what he described as a Christ-centred, inclusive approach to leadership.

Akpabio made the remarks during an Easter visit to the governor at his country residence in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of the state. He praised Governor Eno’s humility and his efforts to promote unity and development across Akwa Ibom.

According to the Senate President, the governor’s leadership style reflects a commitment to inclusiveness and a strong desire to bring people together, which he said has helped strengthen harmony among residents of the state.

Akpabio expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation and peaceful coexistence currently being experienced in Akwa Ibom. He stressed the importance of continued collaboration between leaders at the state and federal levels to sustain development and stability.

He noted that his visit, though unexpected, was necessary to show solidarity with the governor, while describing Eno as a leader who cares deeply for his people, governs without discrimination.

The Senate President also applauded the governor’s modest approach to governance and expressed confidence that the state would continue to make progress under his administration. He added that attitudes such as division, intolerance, and hostility would gradually diminish as unity grows stronger.

Akpabio informed the governor that earlier in the day he had attended the Apostolic Church convention in Ikot Ekpene and Ikono on the governor’s behalf. He said he delivered Eno’s goodwill message to the congregation, who in turn offered prayers for the governor’s success, good health, and peaceful leadership, including support for a successful second term in office.

Speaking on the meaning of Easter, the Senate President said the resurrection of Jesus Christ represents triumph over challenges. He expressed hope that Nigeria would also overcome its current difficulties, including insecurity and poverty.

In his response, Governor Eno thanked the Senate President for the visit, describing it as thoughtful and particularly meaningful during the Easter celebration.

The governor noted that although he had visited Akpabio several times in Abuja, he did not expect such a reciprocal visit, noting that the gesture reflected genuine goodwill and leadership.

Governor Eno added that the visit demonstrated the essence of Easter, which centres on love, sacrifice, and renewal and also highlighted the cordial relationship among leaders in Akwa Ibom, noting that such cooperation is not always common in other states.

Describing Akpabio as a political mentor, the governor expressed gratitude for his continued support and guidance. He also assured the Senate President of his commitment to sustained cooperation and prayers.
