President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday arrived in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on a condolence visit following last Sunday’s attacks in Angwan Rukuba district that left at least 27 people dead.
The President was received at the airport by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and other top government officials.
Tinubu’s visit comes days after he strongly condemned the attacks in Jos, as well as a separate incident in Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and abducted.
In a statement issued earlier by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incidents as “barbaric and cowardly,” vowing that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” the President said.
While condemning the attacks, Tinubu commended Governor Mutfwang for his efforts in managing the situation and directed security agencies to intensify operations to track down those responsible.
He also cautioned sections of the media against framing the attacks as religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could further inflame tensions and escalate violence.

The visit underscores the Federal Government’s concern over the renewed wave of violence and its commitment to restoring peace and security in affected communities.
