The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the Federal Government over the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, describing the incident as evidence of worsening insecurity under the current administration.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said the attacks, which reportedly left at least 23 people dead and over 100 others injured, underscored what it described as the government’s inability to effectively address security challenges across the country.
The PDP alleged that insecurity had intensified in parts of the North-East and spread to areas previously considered relatively peaceful, despite earlier campaign promises by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to tackle the problem decisively.
According to the statement, the opposition party urged the Federal Government to move beyond what it termed “rhetoric” and adopt a more comprehensive strategy involving community leaders and other stakeholders to combat insecurity nationwide.
The party also expressed sympathy to families affected by the bombings and called for renewed efforts to safeguard lives and property.
