Ondo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Mr Victor Olabimtan, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has directed the group to recruit 25 canvassers in each of the state’s 3,933 polling units to support his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Olabimtan said the planned recruitment would produce about 98,325 grassroots mobilizers, each expected to convince at least five voters to support the President during the election.

He made the disclosure on Tuesday at the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Akure.

According to him, the initiative forms part of a nationwide strategy aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and bridging the communication gap between the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and citizens.

“The President has directed that in each polling unit, we should recruit 25 canvassers. These individuals will be remunerated three months before and two months after the election, and payments will be made directly to them,” Olabimtan said.

He added that the focus on polling unit-level mobilisation reflects the importance of grassroots political organization, noting that each canvasser is expected to mobilise a minimum of five voters.

He also stated that the remuneration of the recruits would be funded by the President and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Olabimtan, who also serves as Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors programme seeks to disseminate accurate information about government policies and obtain feedback from communities.

He urged members of the group to strengthen collaboration with structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state, from the state leadership to local government and ward levels, to promote party unity and effective outreach.

The former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, however, clarified that the new initiative would not disrupt the activities of existing support groups backing the President in the state.

He also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his role in the selection of members and expressed confidence that the group would achieve its mobilization objectives.
