The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Giwa Sodiq, in connection with a violent altercation that led to the death of Kehinde, also known as “Ogo Ojigbo,” in Asalu Community, Lalupon, Lagelu Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident occurred when community security guards alerted authorities about a confrontation involving a group of youths in the area.
The injured individuals were rushed to Ojo Oluwa Hospital, Iyana-Offa, where Kehinde later succumbed to his injuries.
The police confirmed that the deceased’s body has been deposited at Adeoyo State Hospital Morgue, Ring Road, Ibadan, for preservation and autopsy.
Ayanlade said the police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Iyana-Offa, promptly responded to the scene and the hospital, documenting the situation and apprehending Giwa Sodiq as a suspect.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects to ensure full prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, commended the swift response of the operatives and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
The police command also appealed to the public to cooperate with security agencies to ensure communities remain safe and secure for all residents.
