Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully thwarted coordinated attacks by ISWAP insurgents in Limankara, Kukawa, and Lamusheri areas of Borno State, the military has confirmed.
The attacks, which took place on the night of February 20, 2026, were met with swift, decisive action by Nigerian soldiers, supported by air surveillance and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
During a precision operation in Lamusheri Village, a key insurgent logistics hub in Gujba LGA, 15 terrorists were neutralized, while scores fled with gunshot wounds.
Troops destroyed vehicles, tricycles, and extensive defensive structures, recovering arms, ammunition, and communication devices.
In Limankara, insurgents attempted to breach a Forward Operating Base but were repelled in a fierce firefight, with several terrorists killed and no casualties on the Nigerian side.
Meanwhile, in Kukawa, terrorists launched a multi-pronged assault using gun trucks, motorcycles, and fighters on foot. The troops, with coordinated air support, forced the attackers to retreat, destroying one gun truck and five motorcycles, neutralizing additional insurgents.
Sadly, one soldier lost his life, while others injured were evacuated and stabilized.
The operations resulted in the recovery of 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 magazines, and other insurgent equipment, further weakening terrorist capabilities in the region.
The Nigerian Army has commended the troops for their bravery, discipline, and tactical skill, urging them to sustain the offensive to continue denying terrorists freedom of movement across Borno State.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of communities and degrading the operational capacity of ISWAP in the North East.
