The Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed the Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, as the sixth Chancellor of the institution.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu.
Oba Ogunsanwo succeeds Professor Gbolahan Elias, SAN, who served as the fifth Chancellor of the university.
According to the statement, the appointment was made in line with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law of 2004, as amended, which empowers the Visitor to appoint the Chancellor.
The statement adds that the new Chancellor’s appointment takes effect from February 13, 2026, for a single term of five years, renewable once.
Oba Ogunsanwo is expected to bring his wealth of experience and leadership to the university’s continued growth and development.
