Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped teenagers and arrested one suspected kidnapper during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said the victims were rescued following a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on February 11, 2026.
According to the statement, the victims were abducted at Gwewan Village, Dumne, in Song LGA before security operatives launched a joint operation that led to their rescue.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested one suspected kidnapper during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area, following their kidnapping at Gwewan Village, Dumne in Song LGA,” the statement read.
Nguroje attributed the success to the strategic deployment of combined security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, which facilitated a joint operation involving police operatives and local security outfits.
He explained that upon sighting the security team, the suspected kidnappers engaged operatives in a gun duel but were forced to flee, possibly with gunshot injuries, abandoning the victims.
The rescued victims were identified as Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16. They were said to be unharmed and were taken to hospital for medical examination.
One suspect, identified as Sanda Bello, 22, from Salasa Village in Dumne, Song LGA, was arrested during the operation.
“The suspect has confessed to his involvement in the crime,” Nguroje said, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident.
