Britain’s Prince of Wales, William, is set to meet Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a three day official visit to the kingdom, as London seeks to deepen diplomatic, trade and cultural ties with Riyadh.

The visit, which begins on Monday, is being undertaken on behalf of the British government and follows renewed engagement between both countries after a 2025 visit by the UK finance minister that resulted in trade and investment agreements valued at about £6.4 billion.

During the trip, Prince William will hold an audience with the crown prince and participate in a series of engagements centred on Saudi Arabia’s economic reforms, cultural development and environmental initiatives, according to Kensington Palace.

Although this will be his first official visit to the kingdom in this capacity, Prince William has previously met the Saudi crown prince. In 2018, he and his father, then Prince Charles, hosted Mohammed bin Salman at Clarence House in London, while Queen Elizabeth II held a separate engagement with the Saudi leader the same day.

The Prince of Wales is also expected to meet young Saudis and gain first hand insight into the country’s plans for sustainability, urban development and innovation. His programme includes visits linked to women’s sport, esports, conservation efforts and cultural cooperation.

As part of the tour, Prince William will travel to AlUla, an ancient oasis city in north western Saudi Arabia. There, he will visit wildlife reserves, interact with local communities and tour Prince of Wales House, a newly established UK cultural space designed to promote collaboration in arts, heritage and education.

The visit underscores continued efforts by both countries to strengthen bilateral relations across economic, cultural and environmental sectors.
