Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will base its campaign for the 2027 general elections on government achievements, policies and development plans rather than personal attacks against political opponents.

Yusuf made the declaration on Thursday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council Management Team in Kano.

The governor said the ruling party would present its record of performance to voters, outline its development agenda and engage citizens on issues affecting their welfare.

According to him, the campaign would focus on demonstrating what APC-led administrations had accomplished and explaining their plans for the future.

He urged members of the campaign council to conduct their activities responsibly, avoid inflammatory statements and maintain discipline throughout the electioneering period.

Yusuf also charged the council to intensify grassroots mobilisation across Kano State to strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The governor expressed his desire for Kano to deliver the highest number of votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, urging party officials to engage voters across communities.

He described the newly inaugurated council members as representatives of the APC who must demonstrate commitment, teamwork and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities.

Yusuf further encouraged members not to be intimidated by opposition parties, insisting that political competition should be approached with confidence and determination.

Addressing party supporters whose names were excluded from the initial appointments, the governor appealed for patience, explaining that additional committees and appointments would be announced.

The campaign management team is headed by former Deputy Governor Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo as Director-General, with Bala Muhammad Gwagwarwa serving as First Deputy Director-General.

Other appointments include Yunusa Adamu Dangwani as Deputy Director-General for Kano South, Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda for Kano North and Senator Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura for Kano Central.

Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure was appointed Assistant Director-General for Women Affairs.

The inauguration attracted prominent APC stakeholders, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila.

The development forms part of the APC’s preparations for the forthcoming elections, as political parties strengthen their campaign structures and organise voter engagement across the country.

Yusuf maintained that the council’s responsibilities would require sustained coordination, effective communication and commitment to the party’s electoral objectives.
