At least 11 people have been killed after three gunmen opened fire on people gathered for a house party in South Africa, police said on Wednesday.
The attack occurred on Tuesday night in KwaMakhutha township, about 30 kilometres south of Durban on the country’s east coast.
Police said one of those killed was a woman believed to have been pregnant, while three other people sustained injuries in the shooting.
According to police, the victims had gathered at a house for a party when three armed suspects entered the premises and opened fire.
The circumstances surrounding the attack and the motive for the shooting were not immediately established.
Police have launched a search for the three suspects and are continuing investigations into the incident.
Authorities had not announced any arrests in connection with the shooting at the time of reporting.
