As part of his support for the 2025 Christmas celebrations, former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, has distributed food items, livestock and cash to Christian groups, communities in the state.
The donation, which cut across the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), APC Igbo and Yoruba wings, as well as Igbo and Yoruba communities in Zamfara State, included a total of 310 bags of 50 kg rice, 16 cows and N1 million cash.
A breakdown of the donation shows that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Zamfara State chapter, received 200 bags of rice, 10 cows and ₦1 million cash.
Also, the APC Igbo Wing has received 20 bags of rice and one cow, while the APC Yoruba Wing got 10 bags of rice and one cow. The Igbo Community in Zamfara State received 50 bags of rice and two cows, and the Yoruba Community was given 30 bags of rice and two cows.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Senator Yari called on Christians in the state to use the yuletide period to pray for the restoration of peace, security and lasting development in Zamfara State, Nigeria.
Receiving the items on behalf of CAN, the Chairman of the Association in Zamfara State, Afolabi Tajuddern Azeez, expressed deep appreciation to Senator Yari for the gesture.
He assured that the items would be distributed fairly among Christian faithful across the state, urged Christians to continue praying for improved security and development.
In separate remarks, the Chairman of APC Igbo Wing in Zamfara, Emmanuel Anokwuru, and the Chairman of the Yoruba Christian Community, Engr. Joshua Tauwo, described the donation as timely, humanitarian, a huge relief to Christians in the state. They pledged continued prayers for Senator Yari’s success in his future endeavours.
Earlier, Alhaji Sani Garba, who represented Senator Yari at the event, said the donation has been annual tradition, aimed at ensuring Christians celebrate Christmas and the New Year with joy. He stressed the need for transparency, fairness and justice in the distribution of the items.

Garba was accompanied by Alhaji Abdullahi Ja’o, who represented the Chairman of the AA Yari Political Organization, Dr. Lawal M. Liman, alongside other officials of the organisation.
