The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has cautioned political office holders against supporting individuals he described as betrayers, warning that such actions would ultimately rebound on them.

Wike issued the warning on Saturday in Port Harcourt during the commissioning of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters, where he addressed politicians across different levels of government.

Speaking at the event, the former Rivers State governor said political leaders who encourage or align with disloyal individuals should expect to experience similar betrayal in their political careers and personal lives.

“Whoever is watching this programme, whether you’re a senator, whether you’re a House of Representatives member, whether you’re a minister, or whether you’re the governor, and you support betrayers, people will continue to betray you in life,” Wike said.

He reiterated the warning, stressing that betrayal thrives where it is tolerated or rewarded.

“Whether you’re a senator, whether you’re a member of the House of Representatives, whether you’re a minister, and whether you’re the Governor, you sit down and support those who betray. Betrayal is your portion,” he added.

Wike further warned Governors seeking second terms or planning to install successors to be cautious about fostering disloyalty within their political structures.

“Every Governor who is doing a second term, who has ambition to put a successor, and is supporting betrayal, you will never survive it. Betrayal will follow you from the day your successor comes in,” he said.

He described his message as a firm warning, insisting that the consequences of political betrayal are inevitable.

“That is what the gods of the land have told me to tell all of you. And what I tell you is the truth,” Wike stated.
