Zaynab Ngohemba, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, has spoken publicly about her marriage to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, describing the union as one built on maturity, shared values, and mutual understanding.
The couple got married in a private ceremony in 2024, a development that has since attracted widespread public, political interests.
In a statement issued by her media aide, David Adeoye, Zaynab said the marriage represents a partnership between two individuals already committed to public service, rather than a change in personal direction.
She described the relationship as one anchored on personal stability, shared purpose, noting that such foundations strengthen public duty and leadership responsibilities.
According to the statement, the union reflects values of humility, discipline, empathy, and responsibility, adding that leadership is most effective when rooted in humanity and service.
Zaynab also noted that the marriage comes at a time when Nigerians are increasingly demanding integrity and compassion from public office holders, stressing that leaders who understand people are better equipped to govern.
Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. That marriage, contracted in March 2016, ended in 2017 after 17 months.
