The United States has declared that the ongoing war with Iran has reached a critical turning point, even as Tehran escalates tensions by threatening to target major American businesses operating across the region.
U.S. Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth stated that the coming days would be decisive, signalling a possible shift in the trajectory of the month-long conflict.
“We have more and more options, and they have less… the upcoming days will be decisive,” he said.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards responded with a direct warning, listing several global corporations including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Tesla, and Boeing as potential targets in retaliation for continued U.S. military operations.
The White House has, however, assured that American forces are fully prepared to counter any threats against U.S. interests.
President Donald Trump reiterated his willingness to negotiate an end to the war but warned of severe consequences if Iran fails to comply with U.S. demands, including reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
The conflict has continued to widen across the Middle East, drawing in multiple actors and triggering economic shockwaves globally. Oil prices surged sharply in March, with Brent crude rising by as much as 64 percent, driven by supply disruptions and attacks on key shipping routes.
In one of the latest incidents, an oil tanker off the Gulf coast was struck and set ablaze, further intensifying concerns over energy security and global supply chains.
Beyond the battlefield, diplomatic efforts are gaining momentum. China and Pakistan have called for an immediate ceasefire, while other global leaders, including the Pope, have urged de-escalation.
Despite these efforts, divisions among Western allies persist, with countries such as France and Italy reportedly pushing back against certain U.S.-led military operations.
Military engagements remain intense, with continued strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure and defence systems. The conflict has also spilled into neighbouring regions, involving groups in Yemen and Lebanon, further complicating efforts to contain the crisis.
Analysts warn that the targeting of multinational corporations marks a dangerous escalation, potentially broadening the war’s impact beyond traditional military fronts into economic and cyber domains.
As tensions peak, the world watches closely, with the next few days expected to shape not only the outcome of the conflict but also the stability of global markets and international security alliances.
